UrbanDig participates in Istanbul Festival of Architecture 2020!

Accepting the invitation of our new collaborators Urban.koop, we will participate in Istanbul Festival of Architecture 2020 at Saturday the 5th December! The festival’s theme is “Paradigm Shift”, a need that seems to emerge from the current circumstances:

While issues such as sustainability, participation and social justice were "cool" catch-words to be used in project introduction texts in the 90's, beyond just words the ideas have become an indispensable part of any project in the last 20-30 years. The pandemic has added more of a sense of urgency to the conversation and discourse in architecture has changed radically with the process we are still experiencing. But it is still unclear how this change will be reflected in terms of spatial experience.

Through this year’s subject, the festival aims to examine and reflect on how the immediate future in the field of Architecture may look. The festival will take place digitally between the 5th and 11th of December and is organized by the Turkish The Circle and Binat Communication & Consultancy. The Circle is a research and production platform for architecture, art and culture, while Binat Communication & Consultancy focuses on architectural publishing and sectoral communication projects.

This Saturday, at 16.00 (CET) we will be there, participating in a discussion under the subject: “Forms of Architecture: Different Geographies – Spaces –Production Methods”. UrbanDig will share its experience regarding performance in public space, as a condition for participation and new spatial meanings, while Bits To Atoms, Herkes İçin Mimarlık, Urban.Koop, Tiflis Mimarlık Bienali Ekibi and Todo Por la Praxis will also be with us– participating in the discussion through sharing experiences from their own fields.
