The "future is heritage" at Dexameni Square
On June 19th UrbanDig presented its activities for youth on Athens' Hadrian's aqueduct to 11 youth participants of the "Future is Heritage" network.
After the presenation the members of the network, all young researchers and professionals in cultural heritage management, designed proposals for highlighting the aqueduct's presence on the square and its identity. The proposals were presented at a meeting of the network & Europa Nostra that same day. The proposals included implementing cultural - social activities (cinema, market etc) inside the open reservoir. They also included architectural suggestions such as bringing water in the square, installing interpretation boards about the Hadrian and re-thinking about the existing fencing of the reservoir and the playground.
The event was part of the Capacity Building Days in Athens that the network organized this year in collaboration with Europa Nostra and Erfgoed Brabant.
